Ethics and eco for kindle?

I read a lot of books and to make books you need to cut down trees (which is bad as far as I can tell) so in that respect having a kindle instead seems to make sense. I don’t know how much/many/dangerous chemicals are involved in making them, how much electricity is used charging them/ how long a charge lasts or anything and would like some advice with regard to the ecological and ethical impacts a kindle has.

I respect your opinion.
